Skagen Denmark 656LSLD

Today's watch is from a brand which I thought was Scandinavian, but turns out to be based in America!

The watch is by Skagen Denmark who was founded in 1989 and named after a Danish fishing village (the Northernmost settlement in Denmark). The founders were Henrik and Charlotte Jorst who had moved from Denmark to New York a few years earlier. They started as US representatives for a Danish manufacturer, but moved on to getting their own watches made through the Hong Kong factory of another Danish company, Comtech Watches, and the Skagen watch brand was born in 1992. The company aim is to bring Danish inspired ideals to the world through design imbued with purpose, honesty and simplicity. Since 2012, the company has been owned by Fossil Inc.

This model is the 656LSLD, and is technically a ladies watch, but I'd consider it to be unisex. The last letter in the model number seems to refer to the colour as there is also a 656LSLB in black. It is a slim feeling watch with a curved rectangular case with a line of jewels at the top and bottom. It has a tan leather strap which matches the case width, and has the Skewen name on the back. It is a 3 hand dial design and has 3 small dials at the 6, 9, and 12 o'clock positions. The small dials cover the day (top), date (bottom), and 24 hr time (left).

The back shows this is a stainless steel watch with a super hardened mineral crystal glass and is 3 atm water resistant. Inside is quoted as being a slim Japanese quartz movement which has a part number of KP1207XE and takes an LR920 battery. The back also has the Skagen Denmark and Skagen Designs Ltd names as well as the Skagen logo (which represents two different bodies of water in the sea meeting at Skagen).

This model had an original list price of $165 and according to Amazon it is a 2011 design.
