Android USA Flip Lid Dual Dial

It's a quick post for me today.

The watch I've chosen is by a brand I've blogged a few times called Android USA. The brand was started in 1991, and from the range of watches I've come across, they have made all manner of different styles of watches.

This watch is not so easy to use one handed, as the time is basically hidden behind a metal plate. Below the plate is a little switch which when pulled down allows the lid to flip open. Behind the lid, there are actually two analogue dials. These are both 3 hand dial designs, and have separate quartz movements and a crown on each side of the metal case.

The back of the watch has the Android USA logo, and a statement that it is Android design, and "Property of OKO" but I don't know why.

There isn't much info about this model, so I don't know when it's from. It looks like it would fit with the style of metal watches that came out in the 90s.

Android USA Interceptor AD449

It's been almost 3 years since I blogged my last Android USA watch, so it was about time I blogged another.

The Android USA watch brand was started in 1991 by the now CEO and lead (only) designer Wing Liang. The brand has the philosophy "high-quality production of cutting-edge designs with forward-looking technology and the support of excellent service.". The brand started with fashion watches, and now has a global reach from their base in Florida. The watches have a mix of materials to suit the design, and the movements are sourced from around the world.

This watch is a called the Interceptor (which may have been a range rather than just this watch). It is an analogue chronograph with a 3 jewel ISA Swiss quartz movement inside (based on information on the back). The design has a 3 hand design with two small dials. The small dials are at the 2 and 10 o'clock positions (which is unusual), and there is also a window showing the date running between the 3 and 5 o'clock positions. The seconds hand on the main dial is the one for the chronograph (and has the Android USA logo on the back end), along with the top left dial, with the clock seconds on the top right dial. Other information on the back is just the material (solid stainless steel), the serial number, the water resistance (100m/330ft), and that it was designed in the USA.

This model has the model number AD 449 (or more correctly AD449BBU with this colour combination), and came out in 2013.

Android USA Radar

Today is my second watch by Android USA. Android USA was founded in 1991 when Wing Liang decided to blend traditional values of watch making with modern living.

This watch has two displays, one normal 3-hand dial, and one 'radar' dial, each with their own (Miyota) quartz movement. The radar dial has a front disc with a section cut out which rotates with the seconds. Behind that disc is a second disc connected to the hours. On the hour disc, there is a small red aeroplane, so the plane is visible on the radar once every minute.

Android USA Catapult watch

This watch is the catapult watch by Android USA. The watch has a standard 3-hand dial display, but the face is cut flat across the top rather than being completely round. What sets it apart from other watches is the small spoon-like attachment cutting across the dial (from 12 to 6). This is the catapult (or technically ballista)! It is hinged at the top, with a catch at the bottom holding it in place. Put a small paper ball on the spoon, release the catch, and the ball will be launched (maybe 3-5m depending on the size, weight, and aerodynamic properties).

The back of the watch states it is Android Design, and property of OKO. Inside, there is a standard Japanese movement, powered by an AG4 battery.
