Cabane de Zucca Safari Zoo - Giraffe

The very first watch i posted on my blog was a Safari Zoo watch by Cabane de Zucca. Today is the fourth and last of the line (well the male version at least).

This design is the Giraffe version, and like the others has a textured resin strap and case with the marking of the animal covering the surface. Four different designs were released in 1998 under a series called Safari Zoo, with the others being a Zebra, Leopard, and Alligator.

The Cabane de Zucca watch range is a collaboration with Seiko that started in 1995, and the Safari Zoo watches use a Seiko W240 module. The watch has a 2 line LCD display with a red Z in the backlight (which is triggered by the front button). Both lines have 6 digits, with two of the digits on the top suitable for showing letters. The modes for this watch are stopwatch (with pace mode), timer, and alarm.

All of these Safari Zoo models have the same model number of W240-4120. They were originally released with a retail price of ¥14,000. The catalogue number of this version is AWAB007.

Cabane de Zucca Safari Zoo - Zebra

As I'm going to a Ska concert tonight (the band is called Ska-Boom! and are worth checking out), I wanted something black and white, so picked a Zebra!

Actually, I picked the Zebra watch from Cabane de Zucca's Safari Zoo collection.

The Cabane de Zucca watches are produced by Seiko from a collaboration between the two that started in 1995. The Safari Zoo watches were released in 1998, and featured 4 different animals (two of which have been featured before). The case is in black and white with a textured surface like an animals coat.

It uses a Seiko W240 module with time, stopwatch, timer, and alarm. It has a 2 - line LCD display with date at the top and time on the bottom (with 6 digits). The el-backlight has a large red Z for the Zucca brand.

It's full model number is W240-4120 (same as the others in the series), and the back says it has a F-B movement from China.

Cabane de Zucca Safari Zoo - Alligator

Time for another Zoo animal today.
This is another one of the Cabane de Zucca Safari Zoo animals (of which there are four), and is the Alligator version.

The watch is made of a 'scaly' moulded plastic with an integrated band. The buckle cover is the alligator's head - so the watch, when fastened, looks like the alligator is eating it's own tail.

The watch has the W240 movement, and has time, stopwatch, chronograph, and alarm.
The full model number is W240-4120, and appears to have been made in 1999.

First watch on the list - zucca safari zoo

After deciding to collect watches, I have been wondering how to share information about my watch collection for other like-minded people. So here it is...
The first watch I'm sharing is a Cabane de Zucca Safari Zoo. This is one of a set of (at least) four different animal prints (which will appear in later posts). The watch seems to be based on a Citizen movement (W240-4120).
So hopefully you'll find this interesting and please comment (especially if you know any more info about these watches)
