Casio AQ-305 round ana-digi

I have quite a liking for the ana-digi style of watches, and today is another.

This watch is the AQ-305 by Casio, and is an ana-digi model with a round case. It seems to be quite a rare model as there are very few hits and photos online, so there isn't much info about.

The watch has a 3 hand dial and a curved LCD with 6 small digits at the bottom of the face. There are 2 buttons for the digital display, and the crown controls the analogue part. Inside is a 388 module which has been seen before on this blog in the RKA-508 Adventure Club Rookie. It gives the digital display time, date, alarm, dual time, and stopwatch options. As the analogue dial is not linked to the LCD, it actually means this is a triple time watch I'd you really wanted to.

On the dial of the watch is another model number of 701A2-093 which I think might be the specific model variation. There is no date information on the watch, but I think this is a 90s model.

The case is light, so I think it is base metal with a stainless steel back. It has a metal Casio strap with a part number of S-087N.

Casio Sports AQ-190W 1/1000 Chronograph

In my early teens, I had always wanted a watch like the one I'm wearing today. The combination of dials and lots of LCD bits made me feel that this was the type of super high tech device I wanted on my wrist.

This watch is a Casio watch from their sports line, and one which they describe as Multi-Task Gear.

The model is the AW190W, and this variant is the AQ-190W-1AVEF. It is an ana-digi model with a main electronic dial, and several LCD panels. The dial is a 2 hand dial, which is fully electronic controlled (the minute hand moving 3 times per minute). There are 4 LCD parts (with another 3 indicator windows), two of which are showing segments which fill with the seconds or in as part of the velocity measurement in stopwatch mode. The other two are the main LCD displays, one being a dot matrix for day or mode description, and the other being a 2 line LCD display with digits (although the bottom line also shows some text (lap mode or alarm status). There is a small dial at the bottom of the display to show velocity depending on the stopwatch duration (giving a reading in unit/hr, and using the left circular LCD to add hundreds to the dial reading).

It uses a 5082 module, which has the 1/1000 sec chronograph (going up to 100 hrs), 5 alarms, timer, and world time. There is an orange LED light which shines in from the side of the dial, and the time markers and hands glow in the dark. It has a 10 bar /100m pressure classification, but the website reminds you that this is not a diving depth, but the air pressure used during a water resistance test (to ISO 22810).

The watch still seems to be on sale for around $65 direct from Casio.

Casio Ana-Digi Alarm Chronograph AQ-47

Today's watch is a reasonably normal Casio Ana-Digi, but it has a slightly more unusual shape.

The watch is the AQ-47 and has a 758 module. There is a two hand dial (crown operated), and a small 6 digit LCD at the bottom. The LCD display modes are time, date, stopwatch, alarm, and dual time.

The design is more plastic than many of the Ana-Digi watches, and has a strap matched to the case.

The date is more difficult to pin down. It looks very 80s, but seems like you can still buy versions.

Casio Ana-Digi Alarm Chronograph AQ-440

A while ago, I posted about a very unusual Casio called the AQ-441G and didn't know much about it, apart from the fact that it was extremely rare.

Today, I'm posting about the predecessor the AQ-440.

This watch uses the same 307 module as the AQ-441, but was released a year or two earlier. This model came out in around 1985 and is an ana-digi model with an LCD and a rotating disc display. The discs cover the top two thirds of the face with a single line LCD below.

For the analogue display, there are three risks which rotate clockwise, with the hours on the outside, and seconds on the inside. Two thirds of the discs are visible, but the lowest 1/6 is behind a shaded window.

The LCD panel has a 6 digit display, and is used to show either time, date, or the other modes which are chronograph, alarm, and dual time.

This model has a silver case with an angular appearance, and a strap design which is matched to the case (part number B-762N). The AQ-441G had a more rounded case, and much less of the discs were visible, but the insides were the same. I've seen variants of this watch in gold, or with a black set of discs.

A comment on my last post said that the AQ-441 was rare even after a couple of years from manufacture, and that it was one of the most expensive watches Casio made at the time. I'd guess that the same applies here as there seems to be a similar number of hits on the Web.

Casio Ana-Digi Alarm Chronograph AQ-441G

Today is the most unusual Casio watch I own. A Casio Alarm Chronograph Ana-Digi AQ-441G watch with a rotating dial and LCD display. There is virtually no record of this I could find on the web, so I know very little about the watch (apart from the fact it is rather rare).

What I can say is that the watch operates with a 307 module, and from the serial number, I'd guess this was made in 1987 or 1997, and at least 1500 were manufactured in the same month.
The analogue display uses 3 continuously moving discs (hours on the outside and seconds in the middle), and is set by the crown on the right.

The digital display has two buttons, the left for setting the time, and the right for changing modes. The modes on offer are dual time, date, alarm, and chronograph.
