326 Thick Glass watch

Yesterday, it was 'out with the old' and today for the new year it is 'in with the new'. In reality it is not so new, being from the 90s, but it's never been worn so it is technically new...

This watch is the third of the watches I have by 326, but is probably the most normal looking. 326 is the alias of Japanese artist and singer Mitsuru Nakamura. He released a Wonderswan game in 1999 with Megahouse, and it seems that these watches were released to mark that occasion.

This model is a 3 hand dial with the 326 logo on the face, along with some Japanese writing which I've not yet translated. The back states that this has a 2035 movement using an SR626 battery. This is probably referring to a Citizen Miyota 2035 movement, which is strange as one of the other 326 watches seemed to have a Seiko movement. The usual part of the design is how thick the glass is sticking out almost 1/2 cm from the front of the watch.

Today I've chosen another watch by the hard-to-research 326.

326 is 34 year old (as of 2012) Mitsuru Nakamura. He is a Japanese artist and singer who has also worked on computer games (with Gitaroo Man on the PS2 being the most well known).

He also released a game on the Wonderswan handheld games console in 1999 with the MegaHouse Corporation. The watch label has the MegaHouse logo, and is dated 1999, so I guess this is linked with the game. This is the second of four watch designs from 326 that I have, and is quite a different style, to the first one I blogged.

This watch is a strap style watch with a small 2-hand dial. The watch head is built into the narrow strap, and looks similar to some of the Cabane de Zucca watches. On the back it says is has a Y121 movement, which may suggest that it is a Seiko watch (as Seiko has produced small dial watches with modules numbered in the Yxxx format).

The watch face features a picture of a pink haired person in a red tracksuit drawing on a table. When you look closely, you can also see the person has a Halo and small angel wings. The strap has a patch sewn on with the colourful 326 logo.

This watch took me a while to find, as a search for 326 gives a lot of useless results!

It turns out 326 is a pseudonym for a Japanese artist and singer called Mitsuru Nakamura (born in 1978). His site can be found here. He has also worked on a couple of computer games; Gitaroo Man for the PS2, and a game (326 World?) for the Wonderswan console (code SWJ-MGH002). The Wonderswan game was also released with MegaHouse Corporation in 1999, same as the watch, so I assume that the watch was one of a series released as a promo. I have 4 different design watches by 326, and will blog them in the future. The watches also refer to copyright also being held by anan (Japanese women's magazine), so this may also be linked to that magazine.

The watch is a 3-hand (well, 2-hand and a disc), with 326 on the rotating dial for the seconds. On the face, there is a picture by 326 showing a pink-haired girl sitting on a dog with wheels, driven by a man with glasses - yes it is as strange as it sounds, but you can see that from the photos ;-).
