Citizen Independent 1481010 - C353 Turquoise

It's the end of the week and a familiar watch today.

As part of my collection of Citizen Independent 1481010 watches, I've been trying to get every variation that was released, so I have many variations on the same design. The 1481010 range was sold in the late 90s to early 2000s, and included many interesting and noticeable designs. Plenty more information on the range can be found in my overview page (link in the top right corner of this page).

This design is a Digi-Ana (or Ana-Digi if you prefer), and is built around a C353 module. It was the first model in the Neophilia sub - range, and came out in 1999. There is an LCD display at the top, an electronic dial in the bottom left, and an LCD animated pattern in the bottom right. The LCD display is also colour matched in this model, with the numbers being light green. The C353 models have dual time (as the dial and LCD are not linked and can show separate times), two alarms, chronograph, and timer functions.

This particular model has a number of C353-L72820, and the original sale price was 15,000 yen. It's catalogue number was IT21-4495S. This particular colour was only available in 1999, but the style still continued to 2001.

Citizen Digi-Ana Chrono Alarm-Chime

Today I'm back wearing a retro watch again, and you may have noticed that out of my retro selection I have a thing for old Ana-Digi (or Digi-Ana if you prefer) models.

This one is a Citizen Digi-Ana which comes from 1979. From one of the adverts I've seen online these first came out around that time, and were described that "Digi-Ana is the Now and Future Watch... and only Citizen could achieve it!". It also seems from research that this has the 8910 module and was maybe the second model they released. There were a few slightly different variations on the shape, and this has fully rounded sides (rather than others with straighter edges).
The watch has a small dial with a crown to control. The LCD is over two lines with time along the top (4 digits), and seconds below. There are 4 buttons: light, date, mode and select, and the mode button selects between chime, alarm, and stopwatch.

Citizen Independent 1481010 - Digi-Ana C353 Blue

Today I am featuring a watch I've posted a couple of special editions of, but this is one of the original standard types.

The watch is part of the Citizen Independent 1481010 collection, which was released in 1997 as a brand for the young and fashionable, and finished in 2003. More can be found on the range in my overview page (link).

This particular model is based on the C353 module, which was used in the 1481010 range from the start of 1999 until 2002. It is one of many types of Digi-Ana / Ana-Digi watches that Citizen released around that time which featured both a digital LCD display, and an electronic dial display. It was the first model in the Neophilia (meaning the love of new) range with other Neophilia watches being released in later years.
In the C353 watches, the electronic dial is in the bottom left and shows time. It can be set independently from the digital display meaning that you can set the watch up with dual time.

The LCD display takes up most of the watch face and shows time (6 digits with smaller seconds) in the default settings. The watch also has dual alarms, chronograph, and timer functions, which are displayed on the LCD screen. There is also a small cosmetic LCD display in the bottom right which shows a grid of blocks which fill and empty by the seconds.

It uses a one piece continuous curved metal strap, edged with resin, making it have a shiny futuristic feel. Because of this and it's large size, it is often noticed and commented on whenever I wear one.

The full model number for this blue version is C353-S72803, and the catalogue number was IT21-4493S. It's original sale price was 15,000 yen.

Citizen Independent 1481010 - C352 Green

Another day, another 1481010 :-)

This is one of the 1481010 watches with the C352 module.

The design is an Digi-Ana with a hexagonal green inverse LCD across the top half, an electronic dial in the bottom left, and a decorative hexagonal LCD in the bottom right (10 sections which fill and empty counting seconds). This version has a resin case and shell, but metal cased versions were produced.

The watch has time, date, two alarms, chronograph, and timer, and has an electro-luminescent backlight.

The full model number is C352-S68555. It was made in late 1998 (but did not feature in the early 1998 catalogue, and may not have been released until 1999), and had ceased production before 2003. The catalogue number is IT21-4353S.

Citizen Independent 1481010 C353 Digi-ana - Tanz Diele

Time for another of the 1481010 collection today.
This watch is the larger of 1481010 digi-ana watches that was produced as part of the Independent range between 1997 and 2003.

The watch uses a C353 module, and has time, two alarms, chronograph, and timer. The display has both an LCD digital and an electronic dial display. In the bottom right, there is an additional dot matrix LCD panel which fills and empties second by second in a repeating pattern.

The watch strap is a one-piece metal band which is quite springy, and passes around the sides of the display, resulting in a curved watch face. This model has a blue face, and transparent grey trim on the strap.
The back of this particular model is stamped with the name TanzDiele. The word tanzdiele is German for dance-floor (or dance hall), but has very few links to Japan that I can find. I've included a photo of the logo in-case anyone recognises it!

The full model number is C353-S72790
