J-Axis iXa Modern Space Age Multiple Disc Indication

Today's watch is another in the ever popular rotating disc style.

This model is by the J-Axis brand is one of their iXa marked watches. The J-Axis brand begin in 1987 by the parent company Sun Flame Co Ltd, and it seems that iXa is one of the lines/styles that produce. This is also one of the watches they call the Multiple Disc Indication design, which I first blogged about last year. This model also has the text Modern Space Age which I assume refers to the watch design, however the style looks more like a retro take on what a futuristic watch would look like.

This design has two windows for the time rather than the usual one. The left side window covers the hours and minutes, but the second window is on the right side of the watch. Overall, the watch has a round design, but the glass is moulded so that there is a flat square in the centre, with the other faces on the glass tapering down to the bezel.

The back just has the regular J-Axis information: logo, Japan movement, assembled in China, water resistant, stainless steel back, and "Modern Timepieces". The strap is not the original (and is a universal strap I have made to cover all of the watches whose straps are too destroyed to use).

The brand generally has low cost models, so I'd guess this was less than ¥5000. For the date, I think it is likely to be a 2000s model, as it isn't a new design, but I don't think it predates the late 90s fashion watches.

J-Axis iXa Skeleton DG733

It's party day again today so I chose another smart looking model.

This watch is another of the J-Axis range watches that I've been blogging for a while now. This model is one of the surprises, as the J-Axis watches aren't a high price brand, but this model is a high quality feeling mechanical watch.

It is a model DG733, with this colour (green) being the DG733-GR. It is a 3 hand dial design powered by a hand-wind mechanical movement. The design is a partial skeleton with a large round window on the dial covering the centre towards the 9 o'clock position. The back is also clear so you get a good view of the mechanism from behind, and can see straight through the watch where the balance wheel is. The dial is green with hour markers for all except the 3 o'clock where there is a big number. The glass is shaped with the flat face having 12 edges angling back into the body. The design is completed with a thick padded brown leather strap.

The J-Axis watches are produced by the Japanese company Sun Flame Co and first came out in 1987. They release watches in 6 series, and this is one of the D Series. This also has the iXa designation which has been on a few different watches, but I don't know what it really means.

This model is still available from the Sun Flame website, and even though it is a mechanical skeleton watch, it is only ¥3,990!

J-Axis iXa Multipledisc Indication

After the initial peak in the 70s, it seems that the rotating disc style of watch was a popular design through the quartz era too. I've blogged many different makes of watches with the design, and today it's the turn of J-Axis.

The J-Axis brand was started by Sun Flame Co in 1987. They produce a wide range of different watch designs for men, women, and children within the J-Axis line and generally produce low price models. The watches are split into 6 series, but so far I've been unable to work out what differentiates the different groups.

This model is called the Multipledisc Indication Quartz and is part of a group of J-Axis watches marked with iXa. As the name suggests, it uses multiple discs to indicate the time which are powered by a quartz module. This version of the rotating disc has the time on the left side of the centre with the hours on the left and seconds closest to the centre.

The face is rectangular with tapered steps going down to the silver metal strap. The watch is pretty light and so I think it is base metal and plastic with only the back in stainless steel.

The back has the usual J-Axis information - that it is water resistant, has a Japanese movement, and is assembled in China. The back also has the usual description "Modern Timepieces" which J-Axis use for the brand.

The date for the watch is unknown, but this rotating disc watch design seemed to have a popularity spike in the late 90s and early 00s (when the 1481010s and Deadman models were released), so I'm thinking this could be a similar period watch.

J-Axis iXa "Have A Nice Trip"

A quick post again today as I've been travelling today - and this watch has a travel theme.

The watch is another by the J-Axis brand who I've blogged before, and produce many watches that have a similar feel to other more famous brands (but this one is not like any other apart from maybe the Trans Continents watches).

The watch is a 3 hand dial with a Japanese movement and was made in China. The seconds had features an aeroplane at the tip so it flys around the map printed on the face (which only shows the Pacific region with Japan near the centre). The face also has iXa and "Have a nice trip" printed there.

The model number is AL1224 and this colour variant is AL1224-CA. It was originally made as a women's watch, and is a discontinued model.

J-Axis iXa AG1159

Today's watch is by the brand J-Axis, and is the iXa AG1159-W. The watch is part of what they call the A series, with AG1159 being the model number within the series, and the W designating the colour (- I've seen 6 colours: white -w, black -bk, red -re, pink -pi, yellow -ye, and orange -or).
The watch is very thin at only 7mm and feels similar to the Casio Film Watch, but the watch face is pretty large at 46x41mm. Time is displayed on two (inverse) dot matrix LCD displays, with hours and minutes at the top, and seconds & am/pm on the bottom.
