ODM - Gummy Me!!!

Today is another watch with an outer space design, and a back story about it being alive.

This watch is by Hong Kong manufacturer ODM (or odm or o.d.m) - see my other odm watches for more info about odm. It is another of their pieces in collaboration with French designer Jean-Charles de Castelbajac who runs the JC/DC label.

It is shaped as an extra terrestrial rabbit creature giving a 'funky and playful' look. The creatures eyes contain the time, and the helpful creatures eyes light up when you press the left side of its head. The design was first seen as the mannequins in the JC/DC shops. Buying one of the watches means you are meant to take care and observe the creature as it's behaviour isn't fully understood by us earthlings.

The watch display is a 4 digit LCD display split between the two eyes. The eyes can show time or date, and this is switched by the hidden button inside the right side of the head. The light is an el-backlight, and switched on by the hidden button on the left side. As the case is made of silicone, you can pop the module out of the back when you want to change the battery.

The watch body is a single moulded piece of silicone, and the arms and legs make up the strap. There are metal pegs on the back of the hands which fit into holes in the legs to hold the watch in place. The JC/DC logo is on the creatures chest and the Gummy Me!!! name is on the back.

The design is a JC05, and this colour is JC05-02. It was originally sold for $85, but is not for sale anymore.

JC/DC Time Track x odm black

Today I'm wearing a huge watch. But surprisingly it is incredibly light!
This watch was made as part of an ongoing collaboration between watch manufacturer odm (or O.D.M), and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac.
French pop fashion designer and nobleman Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (Marquis de Castelbajac) was born in Morocco in 1949, and established the JC/DC brand in May 1968. Known for imaginative designs for clothing and home furnishings, he has designed outfits for various artists (Madonna, M.I.A) and celebrities (including the Pope), and designed for the latest Lady Gaga video. He has previously designed a Lego inspired LCD watch called Pop Hours, also in conjunction with ODM.
Odm stands for Original Dynamic and Minimal, and are a Hong Kong based brand making a range of interesting designed watches with "the art of experiment...".
This model is called Time Track, and is inspired by military design. The face and hands are designed to resemble an army compass, and the strap resembles the tracks of a tank. There are also bumpers / grips around the side like an ammo box.  It looks like it is a large heavy steel item, but is made from plastic making it feel very light on your wrist.
The watch has a Japanese quartz movement, and is a 3-hand dial, with two separately moving digits for the date.
The model number is TT01-01, and the watch was released in March 2011 for $179
