Agnès b LCD W205

I've posted a few agnès b  watches on the blog so far, but this one is a little different than all of the others.

The difference here is that this model is an agnès b LCD watch rather than the more common quartz analogue watches.

The agnès b brand is a French fashion brand started in 1973 by the designer Agnès Andrée Marguerite Troublé. The fashion brand is the main business, but there is also a film production company, and Agnès has also funded completion of various movies. The fashion brand started with womens clothing before moving to menswear in 1981. The watches started in 1989 and are made in collaboration with Seiko, with the watches still being produced at this time. The logo is the agnès b name in a script style font, but this also means it is confused by many to read 'agnis b' instead.

This model is based around the Seiko W205 module. It has a small inverse LCD display which shows 3 1/2 digits. The module is one of the typical simple digital modules, and has only time, date, and seconds displays.

The case is quite thick at the centre, where the LCD display is, and there is also the brand logo and 'paris' above and below the display. The case then slopes down towards the strap connection, and the strap is a stainless steel expanding bracelet design (part number E0D7AG-S) where the links rotate when expanding.

The full model number is W205-4480, and this model came out in 1997 or 2007. As I've featured this module before in two Cabane de Zucca watches which came from the mid/late 90s, I'd reckon this watch is also from the same time period.

Agnès b V33J-0030

Today's model is one of my growing agnès b  collection, and is a shiny watch.

The agnès b brand is a French fashion brand which now has over 100 stores worldwide. They started in France in 1973 and seem to have quite a following in Japan. The watches have been made in collaboration with Seiko since 1989 and are still being produced now. So far, I've seen many different designs, but they all have an elegance to the design.

This model is based around the Seiko V33J quartz movement, and is one of several agnès b watches to use this movement. This particular version is the V33J-0030 and has a tonneau shaped case (rectangular with curves sides, or barrel shaped). It has a round face with a 3 hand dial and 3 small dials at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions. I've seen this movement online quoted as a chronograph, but this is not right as the dials cover day and date (left and right respectively), and the 24 hr time (bottom with an orange hand). It has a curved glass from side to side which has been fashioned into 3 flat faces (sloped at the sides and flat along the middle) so as to catch the light well. The strap is a fine stainless steel design with many small flat sides so it gives a shiny but flexible design (with a part number of E0F2JZ-L).

Judging by the serial number, this watch was made in 1998 or 2008. My guess is 1998 as although the watch is in very good condition for that age, the Seiko Alba Neatnik watch I have blogged with the same module was from 1999.

agnès b V700 watch

I decided on a simple but elegant looking watch today from a range I've featured before.

Today's watch is by the French agnès b brand (the all-small letters layout is used in the logo). The agnès b label began in France in 1973 and they opened their first shop two years later in Paris, with there now being over 100 stores worldwide.

The agnès b label watches are from a collaboration with Seiko which has been going since 1989 and continues to this day. Many different designs have been produced, and follow the timeless design ethic of the agnès b label.

This model I based around the Seiko V700 quartz movement, and is of a 2 hand dial design. The special design feature of this model is that the hands are shaped such that the hour hand reads agnès, and there is a b at the end of the minutes hand (such that at 9:15 reading across the dial shows the complete name).

The case is a thin silver design (in base metal) with a tonneau shape, and there is a silver metal strap (with part number E017A8-E). The full model number is V700-5100, and is was made in 1994 or 2004.

Agnès b V507 dial watch

As I work through my collection, it looks like I am quite a collector of the more obscure fashion watches.

This watch is another from agnès b (without capital letters) and is a smaller size dial watch. The agnès b watches are made by Seiko for the agnès b brand. This collaboration started in 1989 and continues to this day. The agnès b label is older, having started in France 1973, and now is sold worldwide.

This model is based around the Seiko V507 quartz module, and has a full model number of V507-0B80. For this model, the serial number suggests it is from either 2000 or 2010 (but my guess is 2000). It has a 3 hand dial design, but the centre of the dial is hidden behind a silver mirrored circle with the stylized b logo from the brand (which is glow in the dark!). This is housed in a minimalist brushed steel case and has a metal mesh strap (part number E0L9-B.L) with an agnès b clasp.

Agnès b Chronograph V654

Today is my second watch from the designer agnès b (all in small letters). I've got a few from this brand, so there'll be more to come.

The brand agnès b is a self named label for the French fashion designer agnès b. The label started in 1973 and now has over 100 stores worldwide selling their 'timeless designs'. They started with watches in 1989 with a collaboration with Seiko, who still make the agnès b watches.

This model is a chronograph design with seconds and minutes dials for the chronograph at the 6 and 9 o'clock positions. The main time is shown on the 3 hand dial, and at the 3 o'clock position is a 24 hour dial. The design is quite simple with a round silver case and a black face with hour markers.

It uses a Seiko V654 module, with the full number V654-6100. The strap is also an agnès b logo on the clasp and has a part number of E022 AG-E. Looking at the serial number, the date could be 1991, 2001, or 2011, but looking at the style, my estimate would be it is from 2001.

agnès b - Sport, Vent, Eau, Soleil watch by Seiko

Today I'm wearing another designer watch made in conjunction with one of the major producers.

This watch is designed by agnès b (the lack of capitals is part of the brand name), who is a French fashion designer releasing products under the self named label. The agnès b label was started in 1973, and the first shop was opened in Paris in 1975. They aim to make timeless designs, and now have over 100 stores worldwide.

In 1989, they branched out into watches with a collaboration with Seiko, and this partnership continues today.

This particular watch is a 3 hand dial design using a Japanese Seiko V721 module. Numbers are shown in a handwriting font in raised characters on the (fixed) bezel area. This bezel and it's surround are fixed into the brushed silver case giving it the impression of a silver border. The watch face has 4 words in French - Eau (water), Vent (wind), Soleil (sun), and Sport (sport), and has the curly b from the brand logo. The back also has the agnès b name engraved on the case, and the name is also moulded into the strap.

The full model number is V721-6080, the product code is FANT018, and the strap part number is EB77AB 18. It was released in either 1996 or 2006, and had a retail price of 23,000 yen.
