Quiz - OI The One - Razor Block

I'd been aware of the OI brand for a little while, but it wasn't until seeing this one, that I knew I was needed one in my collection.
The watch looks like a block of black perspex, only broken up by the 4 silver screws near the corners, and the two silver buttons on the right side.
To see the time, pressing the top right button lights the white LED display, letting them shine through the black plastic face.
As to how you read the time, I'll fill that part in as soon as someone guesses the time shown in the photo below.
The watches model number is EN 902 W1

Seiko Alba Volcano watch

Here is another watch released in the late 90s under the Seiko subgroup Alba.

This watch has been designed by Stefano Giovannoni, who is an Italian industrial designer and architect, most known for his work with Alessi (especially the Girotondo line which featured metal and plastic household appliances and accessories with a distinctive cut-out stick man figure). The watch was a limited edition release, and was issued in 1998.

The watch uses a W803 module, where the display is dominated by the large seconds in the centre. The time and date are shown in smaller characters below and above the seconds display respectively.

Mode-wise, the watch has a chronograph, timer, alarm, and an unusual BPM (beats per minute). feature. The BPM mode shows the text PACE-3 at the top, which was the only hint I could find as to how it works. When in this mode, you press the go-stop button (top right) to start, and again on the 3rd beat. The watch then uses this interval to calculate the BPM!

Swatch - X-Ray Vision

Often, my relatives have given up buying me watches as presents, as they are concerned that I may already have it. But sometimes they take a risk and find me something cool, like this watch my sister got me as a present :-)

This watch is by Swatch and called X-Ray Vision. It was designed by American fashion designer Jeremy Scott. Jeremy has built a reputation for outrageous designs favoured by pop stars and celebrities (including Britney Spears and Miss Piggy), and designed a range of watches for the Fall/Winter 2011 Swatch collection.

The watch is comprised of two normal Swatch heads, with a red and white circle pattern, and has the model number GZ252.

The watch appears to be a limited edition (as there is a number on the back) and one of 5 designs in the range.

Citizen Independent - 0520 Chronograph Black

This watch is another of the Citizen Independent range that came out in the late 2000s as a set of designer watches aimed at young people.
The watch is one of the chronograph watches in the range, and has a quartz movement.
The movement is a 0520, which works a 3-hand main dial, 3 small dials, and a date window.
The 3 small dials are hour (24hr basis), seconds, and stopwatch minutes. When the stopwatch is started, the second hand on the main dial reads the stopwatch setting, with the small seconds dial continuing to show the time seconds.

Radio Eva 034 Daykeeper (relax plus plugsuits edition)

Today's watch is from a Japanese clothing line called Radio Eva which specialises in items based around the Evangelion anime.

The black version is based on the character Kaworu Nagisa, who was brought into Nerv to pilot the Eva-02 unit. He is actually a Seed of Life (life-giving alien entity) in a human body. The box shows a picture of the character, wearing one of the watches.

The watch has a red 3-line digital inverse LCD display (hours on top, minutes in the middle, and seconds on the bottom). On the display, the seconds are the largest size, with the hours being the smallest. Mode-wise, the watch has an alarm and stopwatch. All of the buttons are covered by the stretchy PVC rubber skin.
The watches are currently available from the Radio-Eva store for 5040yen.

EleeNo ART025 - Illusion

Today it's another of the watches under the SeaHope umbrella. (for more information on SeaHope and EleeNo, see here)

The watch is part of the EleeNo Lite range, and has the number ART025.

The watch has the name 'illusion', as it looks like the time dots are floating around under the face.
The watches face is covered with a white square pattern, and the hands are represented by two black dots (a large one near the centre for hours, and a smaller one around the outside for the minutes).

The watch was originally sold in Japan for 6090yen.

Tense wooden watch - Hawaii edition

This watch was one I purchased while on my Honeymoon in Hawaii last year.

The watch is a standard 3-hand dial watch, but the case and strap are made from wood.

The watch is made by the Canadian brand Tense, who were started in 1971 in British Columbia, and who specialise in wooden watches.

This particular watch was sold by Martin & MacArthur in Hawaii, and is meant to be made of Koa wood (from the 'iliahi alo'e tree). Looking at the Tense website, it states the watch is Sandalwood, not Koa, but this version may have a Koa wood face.

The watch uses a Japanese movement, with a main 3-hand dial, and 3 small dials at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions. The small dials show day (left), date (right), and hour (24-hr scale, bottom).
