Casio Retro LCD 31QR-29

It's back to the retro again today with another from my old LCD collection.

This model is a 31QR by Casio and is the 31QR-29 (although it looks almost identical to all of the other 31QRs). It was released in 1976 so is one of the early Casio LCD watches.

It has a 3 1/2 digit LCD LCD display with markers along the top to cover the days of the week. In time mode, the markers also show blocks for 10 sec with them blinking for 5 sec and static for 5 seconds before moving on to the next. There are 3 buttons with two covering the standard display mode and set, and the 3rd starting the bulb based light. Unfortunately, the LCD panel doesn't seem to work on this one, but the light still does.

The back of the watch has the model number, but the front also has a number in tiny text at the bottom: 201A6-28 Japan. The strap part number is B-180P.

  1. Retro is something new that is designed to look old fashion. Vintage is something that is old fashion. That sure is a fine vintage watch.

  2. Yes, definately a true vintage watch. I had it from the late seventies until the early or mid nineties. Both first quartz and digital watch I had ever seen. Got it through an uncle who was a watchmaker and so I was the first one with a digital, electric and accurate watch for quite some time. (-:=

  3. mine appeared not to work but after leaving it face down with the correct silver oxide battery resting in place with no back on the display came to life. It may be worth disassembly and cleaning everything with alcohol cleaner and q tip.
