L'uomo Musk Gold Quartz Watch

Today's watch is a confusing one...

The watch is by a brand called L'uomo Musk which basically translates to Man Musk. I've blogged watches by a brand called Musk before which were quite robust and quality feeling with a high rrp, while this L'uomo Musk watch is lighter and cheaper feeling, so initially I thought there would be no link. But, there is a logo on the watch which is the male and female symbols intertwined, but with the arrow for the male symbol pointing straight up, which is the same as on the Musk watches. So, it appears they are linked, or one is a copy of the other...

The L'uomo Musk brand seems active in Japan (and possibly Thailand) and produce watches, handbags, handkerchiefs, and lighters. There is one link which suggests the brand is owned by a company called Okazaki which was established in 1967. That company has the same products, and uses an overseas partner for manufacturing, which fits with this product.

The watch itself is a standard 3 hand dial design with a quartz movement. It has a gold coloured case with large areas above and below the dial where the logo is moulded into the case. The dial has no numbers, just hour markers, and has the L'uomo Musk name printed across it. The strap is black leather, but appears to be a replacement. There is no more information on the watch as the back is completely blank (which is different to the Musk watches).

I don't know when the watch is from, but the L'uomo Musk items only seem to have appeared online recently, so I'll guess this is a 2010s model (but could be 2000s).

Musk MM-2068 Automatic Watch

The Musk brand that I found recently are a little unusual, as they seem to have become very popular (from nowhere), and they have watches from the cheap to the luxurious feeling. The watches can be spotted by the logo of an intertwined male and female symbol, but with the male symbol arrow pointing straight upwards.

This model is one of the more luxurious feeling ones, with a good quality construction. The watch is the MM-2068 and it is a mechanical model with an automatic movement. The movement has 21 jewels and is a high beat design, with 4 beats per second (14,400 bph). There is a small window in the dial (at the 7 o'clock position) where one of the jewels can be seen as well as a glimpse of the balance wheel. As with many automatics, the back of the watch is clear and the weight can be seen. The weight in this model is gold coloured, and heavily engraved with the Musk name, many versions of the logo, and a geometric pattern. The watch is lightweight, with an aluminium shell, and is 10 bar water resistant (with a screw down crown to help with the watertight seal).

The watch is a 3 hand dial design with a date window at the 3 o'clock position. The face has white markings on a black background, with numbers only at the 12 and 6. There is also a black bezel with the Musk name and logo pressed into it. The watch should have a urethane strap with a screw connection to the case, but my one has my universal strap as the original is missing.

I do not know the original price for this model, but the Amazon Japan site showed this was first listed there in 2010.

Musk MA-2118 Chronograph

Today's watch is by a brand I have come across recently, and who seem to have become quite popular in Japan.

The watch is by a brand called Musk. The Musk brand seems to have only appeared recently in the Japanese watch market. Their logo is an intertwined male and female symbol (circle with an upwards arrow or downwards cross but the male symbol is different than normal with the arrow pointing straight up), so I guess it means they are a unisex brand. I've not found any useful information in English with most of the watches found on Japanese sales sites, and I'm still unable to find their website. The brand has produced all manner of designs of watches for men and women with prices up to around ¥20,000.

This model is the MA-2118 and is an analogue watch with a quartz movement. It is a chronograph watch with a 3 hand dial design with 3 small dials. The small dials cover seconds (bottom) and minutes (left) for the chronograph as well as 24 hr time (right). The chronograph is operated by the buttons above and below the crown on the right side.

I think this model is pretty new, coming out in this decade, and is seen it on sale for around ¥10,000 but also heavily discounted online.
