Swatch Feel My Love

I'm back with the Swatch watches again today, with a special model.

This watch is called Feel My Love, and was released for Valentine's Day in 2007. It is part of a subset of the Swatch Originals line which is called Jelly In Jelly which ran from 2006 to 2009. The case design looks almost  the same as the normal Originals watches, but are slightly larger and have a more hidden crown.

This Feel My Love watch has a relatively plain face to its 3 hand dial design, with a white background and black and red numbers. The strap has lots of images printed on it with a voodoo theme. The bottom half of the strap features a voodoo doll with heart shaped pins stuck in it, along with the watch's Feel My Love name and symbols of a stick person and male and female icons. The top half of the strap has the writing Swatch Voodoo Love in red and black with two of the o's in Voodoo being the male and female icons and the o in love being the head of the same stick person design shown on the bottom part of the strap.

The watch also came with a voodoo doll (which unfortunately I don't have) and a selection of pins with hearts on the end so that you could stick in the pins and try the voodoo for yourself.

The full model number is SUJK121 and it is classed as part of the Spring Summer 2007 collection.

Swatch Scuba SDK111 Tipping Compass

I'm going to the Swatch FIVB World Tour event (beach volleyball) tonight, so I thought it was fitting to wear another from my collection of Swatch watches.

The Swatch Beach Volleyball Major Series was started as a collaboration between Red Bull and ACTS Group marketing agency, with Swatch being brought on board as a partner and sponsor. The event consists of 4 beach volleyball tournaments around the world to find the series champions.

This watch is one of the Swatch Scuba range (also called Scuba 200), but is a little different from the last Scuba model I blogged. This model is called Tipping Compass, which is due to the face design. The face doesn't actually tip, but has a nautical style compass design, but with a bottom section which looks to be at an angle. The compass points make up the hour markers, and the 3 hands are glow in the dark for easy reading. The Scuba models are thicker than the standard Swatch to allow the increased water resistance (200m), and they feature a rotating bezel with minutes markers for timing during a dive.

With this model, I also got a glow in the dark loop fitting which fits on the strap. I don't know if it was originally with the watch, but it fits the size and design very well. My guess is that it is designed to allow you to clip something to the loop while diving to avoid losing it.

This model has the model number SDK111 and was a winter 1993 release (with a design date of 1992).

Swatch Ellypting GB152

Today's watch is one of my old Swatch watches, but this time with an unusual way of telling the time.

This Swatch is called Ellypting and is one of the Swatch Originals models. It is a standard looking 3 hand design, but there are more numbers on the dial than you'd expect. The reason for this is that the watch has a 24 hr movement, and the hour hand only goes round once per day. The Ellypting is one of the first two 24 hr movement Swatch watches which were released in 1993, and it seems that there has only been 7 different designs released in total (the last in 1999).

It is one of the designs called Standard Gents, but actually seems to have been aimed at men and women. This means it has the standard plastic case, and this one has a leather strap (which is said to have an ostrich print). The face design has an ellipse in the middle with the different phases of the moon shown on the ellipse. There are numbers on the dial for every hour, but the odd numbers are much smaller.

It was released as part of the Fall Winter 1993 collection, having been designed in 1992. The model number is GB152.

Swatch Sea Traffic

Today I went for something a bit more colourful with a watch from my old Swatch collection.

This Swatch watch is called Sea Traffic, and has a very colourful appearance. The case is a slightly transparent orange colour with a green, purple, orange, and white face. The numbers on the dial are a mix of standard digits (even numbers) and roman numerals (odd numbers). Towards the outside of the dial is a ring split into 60 alternating orange and white blocks for the minutes /seconds with numbers for the first 10 and then every 5, and the seconds hand is in a matching orange. The strap is a dark purply blue with various patterns such as arrows, dotted lines (like a route on a map), and boat sails.

The Sea Traffic is one of the Originals collection and a Standard Gents design. It was designed in 1993 and released as part of the 1994 Spring Summer collection. The model number is GO101.

Adidas ADH4003 Alarm Chronograph

I decided that for today's watch I'd wear one of the models from one of the big sports brands - Adidas (a German brand which is the second largest sportswear brand in the world).

This model is one of their LCD watches with a retro style. Based on the style and the use of the shuttlecock/trefoil logo on the face, I assume it is part of the Adidas Originals line which began in 2008 and covers products with a retro 70s/80s feel.

The watch is the ADH4003 and is a relatively large resin cased watch with an inverse LCD display. The LCD has 3 lines of information, and the digits are made up of square and rectangular blocks. The top line is the smallest, covering the day and date, with the mid sized seconds display at the bottom, and the time in  largest digits in the middle. Pressing the mode button cycles through the modes, showing a text description on the top line, followed by that mode if you stop pressing. The modes included are dual time, chronograph, timer, and alarm.

The back reveals that the watch wasn't made by Adidas themselves, but that it was 'Made under  license from adidas AG'. The logo, brand name, and model number are also on the back, as well as informing that the back is stainless steel, and the watch has 5 atm water resistance.

It is still possible to buy this model online, so it is pretty new. It does appear to be a popular watch though, as I've seen a sales site where it was scoring 4.7/5 in the customer reviews.

Adidas Originals Black and Colours dial watch

Today's watch is part of a range called 'Originals', but something about it makes me think it isn't really.

The watch is one of the Adidas Originals watches and is a large case dial design. The Originals range by Adidas is a range of clothing and accessories which has the styling of the early Adidas clothing and a look which is like a modern take on the 70s and 80s fashion. The range was released in 2008 and uses the Adidas trefoil logo which was used up until 1997. This logo can be found on the dial and the buckle.

This model is a 3 hand dial watch with a quartz movement. It has a large round black face with red hands, and has multicoloured hour markers around the edge of the dial (green, blue, purple, and yellow). The case is made from a hard black plastic, and has a black rubber strap with Adidas buckle. The box shows that the watch was made by Fossil Inc from the US and was made under license from Adidas.

There are a couple of things which make me a little sceptical as to whether this is a genuine model. First is the back of the watch, which has no makers marks or model number, but just a simple Adidas logo and the statement 'stainless steel back'. The other thing is the strap because the holes for the pin from the buckle haven't been punched through completely. These two things don't definitely say this is a copy or fake, but they just don't feel quite right.

Swatch Raincoat GK372

It's time for another of my old Swatch watches today, but as it is sunny today, the name wasn't so appropriate.

The Swatch model is called the Raincoat and is from 2002 (with the design copyright to 2001). It is part of the gents Originals range and so is a 3 hand dial design with a plastic case. This one has a silver face and a transparent case with a blue/green strap. On the face are the hour numbers in a clean black font, but there are some of the 24hr hours marked as well on the sides (numbers 14 to 16, and 20 to 22). The strap is also unusual as it has a clear plastic first section with a hoop on the end where the blue/green strap is connected. Looking online, the strap was originally more blue than my one shows, and I guess it discolours to be more green with age.

The model number for this watch is GK372

Swatch Originals Olympic Portraits GB178

It seems like a lot of my Swatch watches are 90s models, and today's is another from that decade.

This model is a special for the Atlanta Olympics in 1996. It is one of the Swatch Originals models, and unsurprisingly it's from the range called Olympic Special.

This design is called Olympic Portraits, and has the model number GB178. It is a 3 hand design model with the portrait of a runner on the face. The strap continues the portraits with another 11 photos of athletes from all manner of sports printed along the length. On the back of the strap, there is also a printed signature, but I don't know who's signature it is.

It was designed in 1995, but released in the Spring Summer collection of 1996. The design for this one was done by Annie Leibovitz. 

Swatch See 2 Sea GN909

Back to the Swatch watches again today.

This model is another of the Swatch Originals, but this has an additional button. The button is for the Loomi function which is the Swatch lighting system. As with the other Originals it is a 3 hand dial design with the typical Swatch shape.

This watch is called the See 2 Sea and has the model number GN909. The name gives a hint to the decoration, which is a very nautical theme. The transparent blue strap has wave pattern down the edge, and the glass also has a wave print on.

It was released in the 2001 Spring Summer collection.

Swatch GX409 George

I have many watches with many unusual names, but today I've got a with a normal name for a person (which makes it quite strange for a watch).

The watch is called George and is one of the Swatch models. It is one of the Originals range, and came in two versions - with and without date. This is the one with the date, which is the lower value variation, and it is a 3 hand dial design with the date at the 3 o'clock position. This model is now over 20 years old, being part of the 1992 Fall Winter collection (having been designed in 1991).

The design is quite a simple one with pale blue numbers on a white background with a pale blue circle in the centre of the dial. It comes with a (very) dark green leather strap, and had hardly been used before I got it.

It uses an AG10 battery which is behind the usual coin opened battery cover which is pretty standard for the Swatch watches.

Swatch GK191 Skizzo

It's more from the 90s again today with this Swatch watch.

This model is one of the Swatch Originals range of watches, which are the standard 3 hand dial models that make up a large proportion of the early models.

This particular model is called the Skizzo and has the designation GK191. It was one of two watches under the label Optiques with the other being called Brouillon, and they were released as part of the Spring Summer 95 collection.

It is a clear design, with thick scribble type lines along the strap and face. The case and face are clear, meaning that you can clearly see the module inside (making it basically look like a quartz skeleton watch). It is meant to be completely clear, but this one has been yellowed through aging, sun exposure, or having a smoker as a previous owner.

I don't know the original sale price, but at the time of writing, it is around $50 on the online auctions.

Swatch GE111 Psychedelic Red

Today's watch is a Swatch watch, and is the first Swatch watch i bought after starting my watch collection officially. It was actually my second Swatch, but that one I'd bought before I realised I was a collector ;-).

This model is one of the Swatch Originals range which is a set of standard dial watches in a plastic case.

This particular model is called the Psychedelic Red and was part of the Spring /Summer collection from 2003. The model has the number GE111.

The watch has no hands, but works with two transparent discs with dots on. The outer smaller silver dot is for the minutes, and the hour dot is larger, closer to the centre and white.

The case is transparent and you can see the quartz module through the back. The face and strap are covered with white, silver, and red circles.

Swatch Originals Yellow Laquered - Rainbow Skeleton

Today's watch is one of my newest. It was a present from my sister late last year, and is a model which was only recently released.

The watch is one of the Swatch Originals range, and is a variation called Yellow Laquered.

The Swatch company is the world's largest watch company, and was launched in 1983. The Swatch name comes from 'Second Watch' as the concept of the brand is for watches to be casual, fun, and relatively disposable.

The New Gent Laquered range came out in 2012, and features relatively large watches with a clear face showing the multicoloured anodised mechanism (like a skeleton watch).

This model is the Yellow Laquered model, and has a model number of SUOJ100. The watch is the standard original design with a 3-hand dial. It is a completely plastic watch (except for the mechanism) with a 3 bar water resistance. The range has many different colours, and each case colour seems to have different internal colour variations.
