Trans Continents Trans Solar E110

It was really sunny when I got up this morning, so I decided  it's time for another solar watch. Today's model also follows on from yesterday's watch as it is from another brand made by Citizen.

The watch is a model from the Citizen Trans Continents line which is a collaboration between Citizen and the Japanese Trans Continents fashion brand. More details of the Trans Continents brand can be found in my post from the 10th November 2014. As this model is a solar watch, it is also part of the Trans Solar line.

This model is a 3 hand dial design with a date window at the 3 o'clock position. The solar panel is hidden in the face which has no numbers, just round hour markers (except for 12 which has a T shape) with minute markers around the edge. The case is round and made of stainless steel (with 20 bar water resistance) with a rotating bezel, and there is a thick textured rubbery strap. The back is screw-on and shows the brand name and logo, as well as the usual Citizen details.

This particular variation has a full model number of E110-H26949. The serial number suggests a 1997 or 2007 date. I've found this exact model in a Japanese blog from 2007, but the translation suggests they wrote it was am early model (which maybe implies 97...)

Citizen Trans Continents Ladies Lunar Module

Sorry for missing a post yesterday - I was still unwell.

Back to normal today with my fourth Trans Continents watch with a Lunar module design. This model is a smaller ladies model than the other versions I've blogged, but shares many design similarities. It has a rectangular case with a round face, this time in pink. It is a 3 hand (or 2 hand and 1 disc), and has the regular 50s style spaceship as the seconds marker (on the disc). There is a small date window at the 6 o'clock position, just below the moon phase window. The moon phase dial here is a simple one with a circle showing the proportion of the moon showing (in a combination of grey and pink).

The numbers on the back don't follow the normal numbering and are more similar to the old Citizen watches. The number which I think is the model number is 4-T003630, but this doesn't help with the module number. On the dial, there is another number in tiny font at the very bottom, which is 6085-T006022. From that, I think that it uses a 6085 Japanese movement. The serial number also looks a little different, but if it follows the normal system, this watch was made in 2003.

Trans Continents Holographic Dial 1030 module

Normal service is resumed today as I'm back to the watches again.

This watch is from the range of watches produced by Citizen for the Trans Continents fashion brand. This range of watches started in the early 90s and has many different styles, many having a retro sci-fi feel. The Trans Continents brand was one of the brands under the Tokyo based Point Inc who are a large holding company founded in 1953. According to the Japanese wiki page, this is a brand which was previously under Point Inc, but is no longer so, but I don't know when it stopped (or was sold).

This watch is based around the Citizen 1030 module, previously seen in a couple of the 1481010 models. It has a slightly squared round case which is quite thin. This is connected to a fine weave flexible metal strap with a smooth appearance and feel. It is a 3 hand dial design, and the seconds hand has the Trans Continents target/crosshairs logo at the centre pivot (with the same logo on the back and the end of the crown). The face is covered in a yellow holographic style pattern which is made up of lots of small squares which catch the light in a way to make it look like they are spinning as you move the watch.

The watch was made in 1997 and has the model number of 1030-H09394.

Citizen Trans Continents 6117

Today's watch is one with a travel theme, which is the closest I could find for something to link to the World Cup final.

This watch is from the Citizen Trans Continents range, but has a different look than the others I've found. The Citizen Trans Continents watches are a collaboration between the Citizen watch company and the Japanese watch brand Trans Continents. From what I've found, the collaboration started in the 90s, and may still be going on today.

This model is probably from 2002 and is based on the 6117 quartz module. Unusually, it has a 4 hand dial design, with the fourth hand being a 24 hr hand on the main spindle. There is also a date window at the 3 o'clock position. Around the edge is a black rotating bezel, and this has 23 city names on, each representing a time zone. Rotating the bezel so your time zone is at the 24 hour hand can then be used to calculate the time in any of the other zones. The watch is 5 bar water resistant and was cased in China.

The full model number is 6117-S001978. The 6117 module has also been used in a few other Citizen World Timer watches.

Citizen Trans Continents 5538 Lunar Module

This is the third of my Lunar Module watches from the Citizen Trans Continents range, and has a bit of a different style to the others.

The Trans Continents watches are a collaboration between Citizen and the Japanese clothing brand Trans Continents. The watches usually have a retro space or travel theme, and the Lunar Module watches take the space theme even further.

This model uses the 5538 module, and has a different layout to the 63xx module of the previously blogged ones. This is a 3 'hand' dial design, with the hours and minutes shown on regular hands. The seconds display is a clear rotating disc with the picture of a rocket on. The rocket is positioned so it looks like it is orbiting the centre of the dial as the seconds go round. The watch doesn't actually have moon phase despite having the Lunar Module name. There is a window at the 6 o'clock position which shows a moon, but only around 12 o'clock. The disc in the window actually moves with the hours, and shows a group of planets (around 3), the lunar capsule part of a rocket (around 6), and the moon lander (around 9) as well as the moon.

Looking at the serial number, I guess that this is an earlier model compared to the others I'd blogged. I guess that is is from 2000, as I don't think it is as new as 2010, and looks too modern for 1990.

The full model number is 5538-H24458. The instruction manual comes in both Japanese and English, but doesn't come with much unique information.

Citizen Trans Continents 6350 Lunar Module

Today's watch is my second Lunar Module watch from the Citizen Trans Continents range, and looks like it might be a sequel.

This model is based around the Citizen 6350 module, and has some differences from the 6300 Lunar module I'd blogged about a while ago. Time is shown using a 3 hand dial design, and there are two dials at the 3 and 9 o'clock positions for day (left) and month (right). Instead of the date being in another small dial, it is shown with an extra hand on the main dial, with the date around the edge of the dial.

The moon phase display takes up the bottom section of the dial and has a rotating moon design which does 1 complete revolution every 56 days (and so covers 2 moon cycles). Compared to the other model, this dial moon phase dial has windows at the top and bottom, so you can see a faint outline of the moon picture which is 'hiding' while the earlier model just has a single window.

The Citizen Trans Continents range is a collaboration between Citizen and the fashion brand Trans Continents. The designs tend to have a retro sci-fi style and often look like they should be in a 1960s sci-fi movie.

This model has a model number of 6350-S018111. Assuming I was right about the 6300 being from 2003, and this being a later model, then this watch was made in 2007.

Citizen Trans Continents 6320

I'm blogging another of the Citizen Trans Continents watches today. This range was a collaboration between Citizen and the Japanese clothing brand that has been going since the 90s.

This model is one of the smaller watches (maybe ladies range) in a stainless steel design.

The watch has a 6320 module which is running a 3 hand dial watch. The watch has day and date as well but these are usually dials at the 9 and 3 o'clock positions. The dial has no hour numbers, but the hour markers have the minutes numbers next to them. The Trans Continents name is printed on the dial, and also engraved on the back.

The full model number is 6320-H33147, and it looks to have been made in 2001.

Citizen Trans Continents Ana-Digi Temp 8989

As you'll probably have noticed, I'm a fan of the Citizen Ana-Digi Temp watches. Citizen first released these in 1982, and have been releasing models in many of their different ranges.

Today's model is from a range I've blogged much about before as well. This is the Trans Continents version, and uses the 8989 module which has been used in most of the more modern models. Full details on the Ana-Digi Temp range can be found in my summary page.

The Trans Continents range are a set of watches by Citizen that were released for the Japanese clothing brand Trans Continents and don't appear in the regular Citizen catalogues.

The layout of the face is the standard arrangement for an 8989 module watch, but this has the Trans Continents name below the A1 dial, and the details of the button functions are all along the right side of the face. The case shape is different for this model, being more square than most others, and without the normal panel in the bottom left where the temperature sensor lies. It is a light watch with the case being made from Aluminium.

It has 2 dials and several LCD display windows, and the details about what shows where is all in my summary page.

For the modes, it has dual time, alarm, chronograph, and of course temperature readings.

The full model number is 8989-S010781, and it comes from 1993 or 2003 (and i would guess 2003 is more likely).

Trans Continents C350 Square Watch

Today's watch is an unusual shape. It's much larger and squarer that  the display really needs.

The watch is one of the Citizen made watches for the Trans Continents fashion brand.

This model is based around the C350 module. From the pictures, you may notice a passing resemblance to the LCD layout of the C351 and C352 modules from the 1481010 range. It has an Ana-digi display with LCD sections across the top, the electronic analogue in the bottom left, and an LCD section for seconds blocks in the bottom right. The top display has the time with seconds above the 4 digit time display, and the mode indicator is to the left.

Mode-wise, the watch has dual alarms, chronograph, and timer features, and can technically do dual time between the LCD and dial.

It comes from 1998, and has a full model number of C350-Q01032.

Citizen Trans Continents "Helmet" - Glay edition D299

Today's watch is a type I've blogged before, but just in a different version.

The watch is a D299 module watch which looks a little like a motorcycle or astronaut helmet, and was released for the Japanese clothing brand Trans Continents. The Trans Continents watches were made by Citizen, and this one comes from 1998.

This particular version was made as a collaboration with the Japanese band Glay, and features their name under the glass below the inverse LCD display. Glay were formed in 1988 in Hakodate in Hokkaidō, Japan, and we're originally a Visual Kei band. They mainly produce pop and rock music, and are very popular, being the 7th highest selling band of all time in Japan (as of 2010).

The watch itself is a 2 line display LCD watch, with the time on the top, and date & day along the bottom. With the design, you only see half of the hour line when you look from directly above, so you need to look up at the watch to use it. The watch has dual alarms, dual time, stopwatch, and timer. The strap is matched to the body, and is of a design where you need to cut it to the right length (so watch out if you are buying second hand!).

The full model number is D299-L19206.

Trans Continents GSX Exclusive 5537 module

A lot of collaborations happen in the world of watches - between brands, with fashion labels, or for advertising. Today, it's a mix of a these from 2008 (i guess - it could be 1998, but that's maybe too early for a GSX watch).

The watch was produced for the Japanese Trans Continents fashion line. They have a range of watches made by Citizen, but released under their own name. But this is also a GSX exclusive! The GSX range produces many different exclusive watches, often in collaboration with various brands.

This watch is a 3 hand dial design, with a Citizen 5537 module, and has elements of GSX and Trans Continents designs. The strap is a metal mesh belt and buckle.

The watch has many of the recurring design elements of the Trans Continents range - the second hand is a clear disc with the standard 50s/60s space rocket design, and the face of the watch is covered with the 3-D style globe latitude and longitude lines.

The back of the watch has the Trans Continents details, an information on the producers and designers. The watch was produced by N. Ishida (as with most of the GSX watches) and H. Hamada, with the designers being H. Yamamoto and Rica.

The full model number is 5537-L19371.

Citizen Trans Continents 603V - Three Rings

The Citizen Trans Continents range is quite a mystery. It seems to be for a fashion brand, and produces interesting but relatively save designs. But then I came across this one, the which looks nothing like any of the other watches they (or Citizen as a whole) produce!

The watch is a large rectangular design in silver, with the same retro 60s/70s feel as the Trans Continents range often has. On the face are 3 rings /dials representing the hours (bottom), minutes (middle), and seconds (top). The minutes and seconds show a moving marker (on a disc), but the hours are marked on the disc and match against a fixed marker. The marker on the seconds dial is a 60s style sci-fi spaceship, and is a recurring design in the Trans Continents watches. The other recurring design is the globe latitude and longitude lines which can be seen behind the hour dial.

Inside, the watch is powered by two 6038 modules. One module runs the hours and minutes, but there is a dedicated module for the seconds dial.

The watch strap is also unusual, as there is a section that runs behind the case. It is black rubber, and has the Trans Continents name moulded on the inside (meaning that if you wear it too tight, you end up with the name imprinted into your wrist).

I don't know exactly when this was released, as it was either 1997 or 2007. From the 1481010s, I know the 6038 module was used in 1997, but it may still have been common in the 00s.

The full model number is 603V-H13910. It isn't a common watch, but I've seen models with different colours of dial were released.

Citizen Trans Continents World Time Ana-Digi C463

Its another of the elusive Citizen Trans Continents watches today.

I've never been able to find anything in the Citizen watch catalogues about this range, and I might have found why. What I think is that the Trans Continents range is actually a clothing brand /shop, and Citizen produces watches for them (like the Seiko collaboration with Cabane de Zucca). That would explain why they don't feature in the Citizen info, and I've also found many clothes and other accessories under the Trans Continents name.
This particular model is from around 2003, and is a dial watch with a digital face behind the hands. The dial is a standard 3 hand dial operated by a crown. The LCD display is round and features curved digits around the edge. The top half covers the time (and whether it's in Summer Time), with the bottom showing the time zone. The time zone can be changes with the touch of a button (bottom left), and in the settings, you can turn zones on or off to eliminate scrolling through lots of unnecessary options.

The watch has a C463 module and has world time, date, two alarms, chronograph, and timer display options. It also features an el-backlight (which only really illuminates the digits themselves).

The full model number is C463-S002036.

Citizen Trans Continents 6300 - Lunar Module

Today's watch sounds like it should be on a Nasa mission to land on the moon rather than tell the time!

The reason for the name is that one of the four indicator dials on the face is for the moon phase. It has a picture of the moon that travels across a semicircular window, being a full moon in the middle, a new moon when it has disappeared, and a part moon when it is partially obscured. The face also has 3 other small dials covering day (left), date (top), and month (right). The watch itself is a 3 hand dial in a square case, and uses a 6300 module.

It is part of the Citizen Trans Continents range which seems to have a retro 60s travel theme, but doesn't appear in any of the Citizen dealer catalogues of the time.

This watch was made in 2003, but I don't know how long it was on sale for.

Citizen Trans Continents Octagonal Dial

Today's watch is one of my more elegant watches. To me it has a very retro (1950s) feel with the large white numbers on the black face (and maybe the font helps with that feel too).

The watch is part of the Citizen Trans Continents range which has been produced since the late 90s and has produced watches with a travel and/or retro sci-fi feel. One of the recurring elements in the design has been a 1950s style space rocket, and this can be seen on the back end of the seconds hand.

It has a quartz powered 6329 movement with a 3-hand dial in an octagonal case. The face also has a day, date, and 24-hour dial. The mini dials are unusually placed at the 1:30, 4:30, and 7:30 positions, and the crown is also at the 1:30 position.

The strap on this watch is black leather, with a blue suede back, and there is a leather and suede patch behind the watch cade so that no metal touches your skin.

The full model number is 6329-S036011, and the watch was made in 2006.

Citizen Trans Continents Ana-Digi C480

Another day, another watch :-D.

Today's choice is a Citizen watch from the Trans Continents range. The Trans Continents range were a line of watches with a travel theme that Citizen released in the late 90s, but I haven't found them in the normal dealers catalogues.

The watch is an Ana-Digi watch with a main dial and a small LCD display. Controlled by a C480 module, the LCD display can show time, date, alarm, and stopwatch.

The full model number is C480-L20239, and the watch was made in 2000.

I don't know if the strap is the original, but it has the number 20, and the name Maruman with their logo on the leather inside of the strap. Maruman are a company from Taiwan (based on their website address, but are maybe Japanese) who produce golf equipment. It may be that this watch was a promotional item, or a collaboration between them and Citizen (or the strap was added later).

Citizen Trans Continents Trans Solar E001

There was just a hint of sun today, which was welcome as I'm wearing one of my solar powered watches.
This is another one of the Trans Solar watches by Citizen under the Trans Continents range.

Trans Solar is the the name for Eco-Drive watches under the Trans Continents range, and so does not need batteries.

This watch was made in 2005, and is a three hand dial watch with day and date. The solar panel is on the watch face (rather than being incorporated into the glass). It is a very lightweight watch as the case is made of Aluminum.

It uses an E001 module (the instructions can be found at link), and has a full model number of E001-S027764.
