Jean Paul Gaultier JPG Face 97

In February, I blogged a watch from Jean Paul Gaultier called the JPG In Space, and today's watch in part of the same line.

Gaultier is a very flamboyant and well known fashion designer, who is recognised for his extreme designs (Madonna's cone bra), gender stereotype breaking (men in skirts), and his line of perfumes and aftershaves. Over the years, he has also designed many different watches, especially in the late 90s when he had the JPG (or J.P.G) range which I've been covering a lot on the blog.

This watch is one of the analogue models and is based around the Citizen quartz 1030 module. It has a 3 hand dial design in a deep round silver case. The main difference from the model I blogged in February is the design on the face, but they share the JPG text/logo which is one of the prominent features. The other part of the design here is a man's head where he has a red star in the middle of his forehead (with 19 written in it), and that is next to a large number 97 (which gives away this was a 1997 release and that is confirmed by the serial number).

The back of the watch is dominated by the JPG logo with the other information around the edge (base metal, water resistant, made in Japan). The watch also has a matching leather and fabric strap which also includes the JPG logo imprinted on the leather on the inside.

JPG In Space watch

I while ago I blogged about a range of watches by Jean Paul Gaultier from the late 90s. Today's watch is also from that collection, but a very different design.

Jean Paul Gaultier is one of the more well known fashion designers (and also has a range of perfumes and aftershaves), and is recognised for his flamboyant style. He has produced many well known outfits for celebrities, with his most famous work probably being for Madonna with her cone bra (or maybe his men in skirts who included David Beckham). In 1997, he collaborated with Citizen to produce a range of watches which included both analogue and digital models.

This watch is one of the analogue designs, and has the text JPG In Space on the dial. It is a 3 hand dial design, with a Citizen 1030 movement inside. The case is round and quite deep. The face of the watch is a good distance behind the glass and features a yellow, blue, and purple curvy geometric design. The numbers are printed on the inside of the glass and are in the retro computer style font. The design is completed with an striped shiny strap with leather backing that looks orange from one angle and green from a different angle.

The back has the JPG logo as with the others in this range, and states this is made of basd metal and is water resistant. The full model number is shown and is 1030-L16231. There is no serial number on this model, but the similarities to the other JPG watches and the use of the Citizen 1030 module in the 1481010 1481010 watches in the same period make me conclude that this is also from around 1997. Several colour variations were produced, and I've seen a blue one too.

Trans Continents Holographic Dial 1030 module

Normal service is resumed today as I'm back to the watches again.

This watch is from the range of watches produced by Citizen for the Trans Continents fashion brand. This range of watches started in the early 90s and has many different styles, many having a retro sci-fi feel. The Trans Continents brand was one of the brands under the Tokyo based Point Inc who are a large holding company founded in 1953. According to the Japanese wiki page, this is a brand which was previously under Point Inc, but is no longer so, but I don't know when it stopped (or was sold).

This watch is based around the Citizen 1030 module, previously seen in a couple of the 1481010 models. It has a slightly squared round case which is quite thin. This is connected to a fine weave flexible metal strap with a smooth appearance and feel. It is a 3 hand dial design, and the seconds hand has the Trans Continents target/crosshairs logo at the centre pivot (with the same logo on the back and the end of the crown). The face is covered in a yellow holographic style pattern which is made up of lots of small squares which catch the light in a way to make it look like they are spinning as you move the watch.

The watch was made in 1997 and has the model number of 1030-H09394.

Citizen Independent 1481010 Round Dial - Red 1030 module

Today I'm wearing a watch with a similar module to yesterday's, but from an earlier range of watches.
This watch is one of the Citizen Independent 1481010 range which was sold in the late 90s to early 2000s as a collection of fashionable designs for young people. The range was the forerunner to the current Citizen Independent range (which yesterday's watch came from). This model is a round dial watch with 3-hands. It uses a Japanese 1030 module, which looks almost identical to yesterday's 1032 module.

The design is quite plain compared to most of the 1481010s, but it is incredibly shiny! The strap is a metal mesh band, and is different to the metal link strap found in other variations of this design.

The full model number is 1030-L16266, and the catalogue number is IT21-4044B. It was sold between 1997 and 1998 (it wasn't in the 1999 catalogue) for 12,000 yen, with this watch being made in 1997.

Citizen Independent 1481010 - module 1030 orange

Time for another 1481010 today!

This watch is one of the more normal 1481010 collection, working with a normal dial, and having no extra features.

The watch is very similar to an old Citizen design, predating the Independent range.

The watch uses the 1030 movement, and has a model number L16266. The design of watch came in several colours, but I'm not aware of any special editions in this design. The catalogue number of this watch is IT21-4042B, and was originally sold for 12,000yen. This design was sold in 1997/98 (possibly 99), but had stopped production by 2000
