It's been unseasonably sunny for a while here, but it's going to be bad from tomorrow, so my last good excuse for a solar watch for a little while.
Today's solar watch is one of my normal looking watches. It is from the Casio Overland collection and is designed to be a tough outdoor watch.
It features two of Casio's well known set-ups - the Tough Solar and Wave Ceptor technology. The watch is solar powered and uses the 4315 module, with the solar panel built into the face. The Wave Ceptor part means it automatically updates the time based on a radio signal. This particular model appears to be for the local Japan market only, so only works on a frequency that can be found in Japan. It is easy to adjust the time manually though, so you can use the watch, but you lose the automatic updates.
Time is shown on a 3-hand dial, with the hands being electronically controlled. The seconds hand also moves to highlight any options being chosen (such as the radio on or off, or assisting with the time setting options).
It is a tough designed watch, and features a Titanium case, making it both strong and lightweight. It uses a Japanese movement, but was cased in Thailand.
The strap is also Titanium with a part number of S-1052L.
With a Titanium case and strap, this would be a more expensive model, but I don't know it's actual retail price. I couldn't find a dare for the watch either, but would guess 00s.
